In anul 2012, peisajul pietei de retail alimentar din Romania a suferit schimbari considerabile, marcand debutul unor transformari remarcabile care au continuat sa defineasca evolutia sectorului in cauza pana in 2022. Printre evenimentele notabile mentionam:

  • achizitia retelei de hipermarketuri REAL de catre Auchan;
  • transformarea magazinelor Profi din tip discount in unitati de proximitate;
  • lansarea francizei LaDoiPasi de catre METRO;
  • retragerea de pe piata locala a retailerului francez Intermarche;
  • falimentul retelelor mic.ro si MiniMax Discount.

In 2012, formatul de supermarket si convenience domina peisajul si era preferatul consumatorilor. Astfel, reteaua Mega Image, prezenta cu formatele Mega Image si Shop&Go, conducea in topul magazinelor cu un total de 193 de unitati, urmat de Profi care a incheiat anul cu 149 de unitati. Auchan, Carrefour si Lidl isi consolidau si ele pozitiile, marcand deschideri si remodelari.

Pana in 2022, evolutia numarului de magazine a fost una notabila.

Profi a atins pragul de 1.641 de magazine, iar LaDoiPasi a deschis magazinul cu numarul 2.000. Mega Image s-a apropiat de 1.000 de magazine, iar Carrefour detinea in portofoliu un total de 400 de magazine pe diverse formate. Auchan, Cora si ceilalti retaileri si-au extins si remodelat retelele in contextul schimbarilor de preferinte ale consumatorilor, reflectand o diversitate semnificativa in format si acoperire nationala.


In concluzie, piata de retail alimentar din Romania a traversat schimbari semnificative in ultimul deceniu, cu operatori precum Profi, Lidl si Mega Image marcandu-si pozitii dominante, iar perspectivele raman interesante, fapt evidentiat prin continua extindere a retelelor si adaptarea la schimbarile din mediul economic si social.
